I was chatting with some writer colleagues the other day, about the huge number and variety of writing-related events that take place each year. We agreed that the calendar is pretty full, if not over-stuffed, with these gatherings of literary-minded people.
There are many varieties. To name but a few: courses, workshops, retreats, festivals, book launches, readings… Plus events that combine many of these activities.
My personal experience is quite limited, though I do have some favourites:
- Writers’ Holiday – at Fishguard in Pembrokeshire
- NAWGFest – at the University of Warwick
- NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) – internet-wide, every November.
What about you?
